We call ourselves the “Red Phone Legal Team” to capture the idea of immediate accessibility and fluid communication. The image of the red phone comes from the iconic “red phone” hotline on the President’s desk. We have tried to take this concept and apply it to the legal profession. We don’t like voicemail, and we know our clients don’t either. That’s why we’ve taken the steps to ensure that our clients reach a live person on their team when they call. We provide our clients with a dedicated Google Voice number that simultaneously rings the work and cell phones of the attorneys and team members working on the case. In certain cases, we also loan our clients Apple iPads — complete with a “red phone” case and specialized apps — to further facilitate communication. The iPads include videoconferencing capabilities, case-management functions, and dedicated email accounts.
