Coban Porter, a Denver University basketball player, suspected of DUI in fatal crash

Coban Porter, a University of Denver basketball player and the brother of Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr., was arrested and charged in connection with a fatal crash that occurred on Sunday morning. According to court documents, Porter was found to have slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath when he was taken into custody following the crash. The crash occurred at 1:54 a.m. at the intersection of South University Boulevard and Buchtel Boulevard South, near the University of Denver campus. Porter was driving east on Buchtel at an estimated speed of 50 mph and ran a red light, colliding with a vehicle heading north on University. The driver of the other vehicle, identified as Katharina Rothman, 42, died at the scene and a passenger in the vehicle also suffered injuries. Porter admitted to drinking alcohol earlier in the evening and was found to have bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and smelled of alcohol, according to the police statement. He was also wearing a Bud Light paper wristband.
Serious Injuries Sustained in Crash Involving City Snowplow in Northeast Colorado Springs, One Hospitalized

A car crash involving a Colorado Springs city snowplow on Saturday morning left one person in the hospital. Police received a call at around 10:10 a.m. after the car collided with the side of the snowplow near the intersection of Woodmen Road and Tutt Boulevard. Initially, police reported that the driver was following too closely behind the plow, but later they suspected that the driver may have experienced a medical event that caused them to drift into the side of the plow. The car then continued to drift, hitting a traffic signal pole and coming to a stop in a field on the side of the road. Firefighters had to extricate the driver, who sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital.
Police say speed likely contributed to fatal crash on Austin Bluffs in Colorado Springs on Friday

At least one person died in a crash on Austin Bluffs Parkway in Colorado Springs on Friday. The crash, which involved five vehicles, occurred near Rangewood Drive at around 11:30 am. According to a news release from the police department, a white Ford F150 was heading north on Austin Bluffs Parkway when it shifted into the left turn lane and hit a blue Honda Civic that was stopped at the intersection waiting to turn left onto Rangewood Drive. Both drivers were taken to the hospital, but the driver of the Honda Civic, identified as 69-year-old Wolfgang Lampert from Colorado Springs, passed away over the weekend. Police are investigating the incident and have said that speed was a factor in the crash. The possibility of drug involvement is still under investigation, but alcohol does not appear to be a factor. No arrests have been made at this time.
Fatal accident on Patterson Road in Grand Junction results in man’s death

Michael “Mark” James, a 65-year-old, was struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Seventh St. and Patterson around 6 p.m. and died shortly after. Fatal Crash on Colorado Boulevard Leaves One Dead

On Wednesday night, a two-car crash near City Park resulted in the death of one person. The Denver Police Department (DPD) reported that the crash occurred at around 8 p.m. at the intersection of East 23rd Avenue and North Colorado Boulevard, located east of City Park and the City Park Golf Course. Fatal Multi-Vehicle Accident on I-25 Claims One Life

One person was killed in a multi-vehicle collision on northbound Interstate 25 and I-225 early Tuesday morning. The Denver Police Department (DPD) reported that officers were called to the scene at around 2 a.m. and found that multiple drivers were involved in the crash. A crash closed part of a major roadway in Colorado Springs on Monday afternoon. The City of Colorado Springs tweeted about the accident, which occurred at the intersection of E. Woodmen Road and Corporate Drive, at around 12:15 p.m. The crash caused the closure of one lane of westbound Woodmen and all of northbound Corporate. The actual collision took place along Commerce Center Drive, located on the north side of Woodmen. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, and at least one person was taken to the hospital. The crash was cleared by approximately 1:30 p.m.
