The Lamber Goodnow legal team is proud to announce this year’s winners of the Summer Scholarships Program!
Summer College Scholarship One $1,000 Scholarship Award
Emma Duchesneau
Emma Duchesneau recently graduated from Independence High School. While in high school, Emma noticed an ongoing negative dialogue related to race, sexual orientation, and religion. In an attempt to bring awareness and education to these issues, Emma co-founded a tolerance club with a goal to cultivate open-mindedness, diversity, and inclusion. The club started with 30 members and grew to 100. The tolerance club paved the way for other clubs at her school. Growing up, Danielle’s family moved to several different states which gave her the opportunity to experience many different cultures. She specifically remembers holding the head of the dragon during her first grade Lunar New Year’s celebration and her fourth grade reenactment of Ellis Island. These events shaped her appreciation for other cultures. Emma is passionate about educating others on other cultures, diversity, and inclusion to help put an end to hate and prejudice. This fall Emma will be attending NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
Summer Law School Scholarship One $1,000 Scholarship Award
Danielle Taylor
Chicago-Kent College of Law
Danielle Taylor graduated from The University of Texas at Austin and is currently attending Chicago-Kent College of Law. Danielle’s law memories began at a young age when she attended court hearings of the man who killed her father. Her mother graduated at the top of her high school class but was unable to attend college for financial reasons. Her mom joined the Army which, in turn, funded Danielle’s undergraduate degree. When Danielle left for college, she was unsure of what degree to pursue. She began working at a law firm and while working as a paralegal, she found her passion for research, preparation of legal documents, and helping clients. Danielle is a first-generation college graduate in her family and will eventually be a first-generation attorney. She cannot wait to bring justice to underserved and underrepresented communities of color and make her community proud.
As the world continues to weather health, economic, and social issues throughout 2022, we are proud and honored that so many individuals submitted summer scholarship applications. We would like to congratulate our summer scholarship winners Emma and Danielle! Their ambition, creativity, and drive is not only encouraging, but also a strong sign that the future generations are motivated to shine brightly. Many thanks to everyone who entered our summer scholarships program in 2022.
