College Scholarship One $1,000 Scholarship Award
Artem Khaiet
Artem Khaiet graduated from Prospect High School in 2023 and is now enrolled at Harper College for an Associate in Engineering Science and also Engineering Pathways (Computer Science) to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Artem has always loved math and computer science. When Artem relocated to the United States from Ukraine, he joined extracurriculars including Science Olympiad and the math team. He built and published the Android app: Pocket Constitution. This app contains numerous interactive pages with teaching material and information about the US Constitution. In addition to this information, the app also contains a collection of non-profits that help teens get involved in politics. Artem also recently completed an internship with a software development company where he created a website to help his peers select the perfect college simply by answering a few questions. His goal is to continue improving his knowledge of data science and software development and employ this knowledge in the public sector to give back to society.
Law School Scholarship One $1,000 Scholarship Award
Allison Zilafro
Allison Zilafro graduated from Stratford High School in 2023 and will start at the University of Dallas in the fall of 2023. She will study pre-law and psychology. In addition to her studies, she has been offered a position on the soccer team at the University of Dallas. For the past two years, Allison worked within the community for the Perfect Game Organization. This organization hosts youth sporting events. Allison worked with coaches in the Houston area to organize the official lineup and scoring. In addition to the Perfect Game Organization, throughout high school Allison volunteered with Spring Branch Memorial Sports Association (SBMSA) – a local organization providing organized sports for young soccer players. She provided free lessons to young soccer players, who otherwise could not afford private lessons. Allison is passionate about becoming a lawyer and looks forward to helping people.
First and foremost, we are proud and honored that so many individuals submitted summer scholarship applications. We are impressed by all of the hard work, dedication, and perseverance. The numerous applications we received are a testament to the countless hours of study, the sacrifices you’ve made, and the commitment you’ve shown towards your education and future. We would like to congratulate our summer scholarship winners Artem and Allison!
