Nationally regarded for his creativity and innovation in personal injury law, James Goodnow is the “Goodnow” in the Lamber Goodnow injury law team. A graduate of the Harvard Law School, James is always on the move, always learning, and always finding new ways to fight for his clients.
James has served as the chair or co-chair on hundreds of cases, and has recovered tens of millions of dollars for his clients. His clients call him aggressive — but approachable. The result is an attorney who listens to his clients, and takes their cases to heart, but also someone who fights for them with passion.
As a result of his success in the courtroom and in negotiating cases to favorable settlements, James is often featured in national media stories about the law and other issues. A trusted source for publications such as USA Today and the Washington Post, as well as CNN, MSNBC and Fox News, producers and editors turn to James to comment on matters of the day — his perspective is refined, unique and insightful. He’s such a trendsetter, and has such a grasp for innovation, that Apple featured him in one of their commercials.
But it’s not just the media that recognizes James for excellence. His peers are also quick to mention James as one of the best in his field — he’s received the highest-available peer rating, AV-Preeminent. The ABA Journal named him among “America’s Techiest Lawyers.” The National Trial Lawyers have named James to its list of the “Top 100 Trial Lawyers,” and the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys awarded James in its “Top 10 Attorney Award, Under the Age of 40.”
When James isn’t working, he’s home with his wife and their two young children. He serves on the boards of several charities — and focuses much of his free time on raising awareness for kidney disease. James is also an avid (and accomplished) cyclist.
James and his family love being in the Windy City. They enjoy taking in a game at Wrigley Field, walking — strollers and all — through Millennium Park and viewing the skyline from a boat ride. His kids are particularly fond of Forever Yogurt.
